Energy conservation is currently a pressing issue. Therefore, heat retention in homes is receiving increased attention. Among energy-efficient construction technologies, the Swedish Insulated Sandwich (USB) foundation stands out. Its core concept is the complete insulation of the house's exterior.

What is a Swedish insulated slab?

This foundation technology offers numerous advantages for the construction of energy-efficient homes. It has only recently gained popularity in Ukraine.

The USHP foundation is a multi-layer, insulated monolithic slab designed for installation of a subfloor heating system. Other features of the USHP technology include its shallow foundation depth and the use of extruded polystyrene insulation. The insulation material is contained around the entire perimeter of the structure, at the bottom and in the side segment.

The installation of a Swedish slab is carried out in stages, according to the following plan:

• Soil survey using georeconnaissance;
• Estimate preparation and design;
• Site marking for construction;
• Site preparation - soil is removed from the entire area within the markings;
• Laying a sand cushion and drainage system;
• Installation of utilities with gravel backfill;
• Formwork in the areas where the foundation will be erected;
• Foundation waterproofing;
• Insulation - material at least 100 mm thick is used, first on the side and then over the entire area;
• Slab reinforcement using metal rebar with a cross-section of 10-12 mm;
• Installation of underfloor heating;
• Concrete pouring;
