Installing a house foundation is a complex and challenging task, as its strength and reliability directly impact the building's lifespan. Among these types of foundations, the strip concrete foundation stands out as the most popular in construction. The specifics of creating this type of foundation deserve a separate discussion.

What is a strip foundation?

This option is a monolithic strip foundation or a precast block foundation installed under the load-bearing walls of a house. This type is typically used for buildings constructed from brick, concrete, and other heavy building materials.

It is especially popular where a basement or cellar is planned. Its construction requires a significant amount of material and labor-intensive work, but a strip foundation for a bathhouse ensures even load distribution, preventing wall subsidence.

Stages of installing a strip foundation

Construction of the structure involves initially marking out the site during the foundation preparation stage, defining the perimeter of the future building. Corners are marked with pegs, and walls with ropes. It is imperative to check the accuracy of the angles. The next steps are as follows:

  • Dig a trench for the foundation. It is formed to the same width for both external and internal walls. The depth depends on the climate and soil conditions. An additional 10-20 cm should be added as a "safety net." A 5-10 cm thick sand cushion is placed at the bottom and compacted thoroughly.
  • Install the foundation formwork. This structure is necessary to create the correct foundation shape. Plywood, boards, sheet metal, and other materials are used as the main materials for the formwork.
  • Reinforcement of the foundation. Reinforcement rods are used, bent at right angles. Their diameter is 12-14 mm. The reinforcement cage is secured together with thin wire. Experts recommend using herringbone-shaped reinforcement, which ensures a tighter bond.
  • Foundation waterproofing involves laying materials that protect against moisture penetration.
  • Concrete pouring. For strip foundations, a mixture with added gravel is used. The use of plasticizer additives is also recommended. Concrete poured into the formwork requires periodic maintenance. This involves wetting the surface with water, preventing the mixture from drying out too quickly. The finished structure is protected from wind and sun with a film. Formwork elements should be removed after approximately 4-5 days, without waiting for the mixture to fully harden.

Features of pouring a strip foundation: step-by-step instructions

The foundation is poured manually using B15 concrete mix using a specific installation technique. If the future structure is intended to be used under heavy loads, it is advisable to use reinforced concrete.

The formwork panels are pre-treated with an anti-adhesive compound. After the concrete is placed, it must be compacted. This means removing excess air to create a denser consistency. A compactor is used to de-aerate the concrete.

The price of 1 m3 of strip foundation

The cost of pouring a strip foundation varies depending on several factors. The price is calculated per cubic meter. The approximate cost ranges from 3500 UAH per cubic meter, which includes foundation installation and formwork. The main factors that influence the final price are:

  • the cost of materials (concrete, rebar, etc.);
  • project specifics (width and depth of the structure, interior wall layout, etc.);
  • urgency of the order;
  • type of work (pouring foundations manually or using specialized equipment).

Strip foundation installation requires professional skills and expertise. Therefore, experienced specialists from the construction company "RСС ALBA" are best suited for such processes. Only then can the customer be assured of the reliability, strength, and durability of the structure.
