Concrete shelters have become especially popular in recent years for several obvious reasons. As a component of military construction, they provide reliable protection from shelling for people, structures, external threats, and weather conditions. They are also used to shelter equipment, preventing exposure to damaging factors. Civil defense shelters protect against earthquakes, fires, and other natural disasters, and also ensure safety during military operations.

The specifics and cost of constructing concrete shelters

Building an underground shelter is a complex task that requires careful planning and the right approach. The process itself can be described in terms of the following stages:

  • Site selection. Groundwater level, soil type, underground utility installation, and other key factors are all taken into account.
  • Design. A concrete bunker plan takes into account its dimensions, seismic resistance, safety, and functionality. It must include every detail and provide for the installation of ventilation, water, sewerage, and lighting systems.
  • Digging the shelter pit. Initially, the contours are drawn on the ground, taking into account the dimensions of the future reinforced concrete structure.
  • Creating the shelter formwork and creating the entrance opening using sheet material and planks;
  • Reinforcement and protection. M400 grade concrete is used. Concrete reinforcement is used to strengthen the walls and ceiling to prevent collapse. Waterproofing the structure and pouring concrete are completed in a single step to avoid any joints between the concrete elements and to achieve the required concrete strength and monolithic dome.
  • Installing the shelter ventilation and electrical wiring is the final stage of monolithic shelter construction. Electrical wiring is installed in accordance with all safety standards and requirements.

What influences the cost of building a concrete shelter?

The main factors that must be considered when determining the project cost are its complexity, the size of the shelter, the durability of the concrete, the need for joint sealing, the protection used, the wall thickness, the cost of installation and transportation of materials to the site, and the need for additional utilities.

The cost of a protective structure depends on the depth and size of the underground shelter. The following should be discussed in more detail regarding the factors affecting cost:

  • The cost of a project increases with the use of expensive materials that ensure the durability and safety of the structure.
  • The required level of protection for systems preventing exposure to radiation, chemicals, and blast debris always requires specialized technologies, which increase the cost of the project.

Furthermore, the complexity of installation and the need for interior finishing are considered when setting the price.

Why is it profitable to order turnkey concrete shelter construction?

Building a shelter yourself is possible with the right skills and knowledge. However, most clients prefer to turn to professional companies for a turnkey service. This approach involves a comprehensive set of activities, encompassing all stages of the work. Projects can be implemented for both civilians and organizations and other entities.

The process itself involves developing a design with calculated dimensions and volumes, as well as preparing an estimate specifying the type of equipment and materials required for bunker construction. Next, specialists prepare the site, install the foundation, and assemble the walls, roofs, and doors. Utilities are installed in compliance with all safety standards. Additionally, services may include installation of equipment for power, communications, security, and video surveillance systems.

The construction company "RСС ALBA," which provides turnkey concrete work, ensures complete project preparation for operation, resulting in the client receiving a finished, protected facility.
