A reinforced concrete lintel is a special building structure that can support and properly distribute loads across open spaces or voids. Its presence ensures the strength and stability of structures, and it is an essential element for houses, bridges, tunnels, and other structures. Lintels also allow for the creation of reinforced concrete structures using lightweight building materials.

They are most often used in construction using natural stone, brick, or foam concrete blocks. Foundations and lintels are particularly frequently used in private construction.

Types of concrete lintels

In accordance with DSTU technology, such structures are manufactured using vibration pressing on specialized production lines. The process utilizes molding technology, and all metal components are treated with anti-corrosion compounds.

Lintel reinforcement is achieved using bent frames or flat mesh. The reinforcement is installed using an electrothermal method, with the mounting loops welded to the base frame. After reinforcement, the lintels are concreted using a prepared mixture. The cast products are dried naturally or thermally.

Lintel classification includes the following types:

  • Rectangular lintels have a standard cross-section and are used to bridge small gaps or support a column or wall.
  • T-shaped lintels have a cross-section similar to a stamp and are designed to bridge medium-sized gaps.
  • Slab lintels have a flat cross-section and are required for working with large gaps and for supporting large areas under load. Cantilevered lintels are characterized by protrusions beyond the base, making them used to form canopies, cornices, and balconies.
  • Arched lintels have a corresponding shape and are used to span large gaps that require high strength.

When choosing a lintel shape, it is crucial to consider the load it will be subjected to, as well as the environmental impact. Incorrect selection of the type and size of the structure can cause deformation and compromise the structural integrity of the structure.

Features of installing a concrete lintel

Another name for this type of structure is a monolithic lintel. To create this type of structure, a sealed lintel formwork with the required rigidity is initially constructed. After the formwork is installed, a steel reinforcement cage is laid. A gap of a few centimeters should be left between the bars using plastic spacers to provide an insulating layer to prevent corrosion. The recommended concrete mix for installing lintels is M300 concrete.

After pouring the concrete, proper care must be taken to maintain the structure. On hot days, protect it from direct sunlight. Concrete curing on cold days requires warming it up and protecting it from the wind. Removing the formwork is recommended after two weeks. The structure achieves its properties and grade strength only after 28 days.

Price for concrete lintel installation service

The main parameters that directly influence the cost of lintel installation are:

  • reinforcement quality;
  • concrete mix properties;
  • concrete layer thickness;
  • price per cubic meter of concrete;
  • strength, rigidity, and crack resistance.

The price is specified during the estimate process if you decide to seek professional assistance. Approximate turnkey construction prices range from 350 to 900 hryvnias per meter or more. Individual order details are discussed separately and may therefore have a significant impact on the final cost.

By ordering lintel installation from the professionals at RСC ALBA, you can be assured of the quality and effectiveness of the finished product.
