Garden paths and driveways are considered basic exterior elements. Besides their aesthetic appeal, they also serve a functional purpose. Various materials can be used for installing these elements, but concrete is the most cost-effective and practical choice.
Features and cost of pouring a concrete path

Concrete paths can be laid during the foundation pouring stage of construction, as well as after its completion. Standard installation technology includes the following stages:
- soil removal and subsequent compaction at the bottom of the trench;
- laying geotextiles for moisture drainage;
- installing formwork from boards or sheet materials;
- creating a sand cushion with vibration compaction;
- reinforcement using mesh or rebar;
- preparing the concrete for the path;
laying concrete in a 10 cm layer and smoothing it with a leveling plate.
The cost of the work is estimated per square meter. Turnkey services typically include all the above stages, with the final stage being the distribution of the selected soil over the site. The price per square meter for each stage is determined separately, depending on the type of materials and the total scope of work. For example, soil excavation will cost approximately 400 UAH, laying the mixture will cost 350 UAH, and soil distribution, sand backfilling, and compaction will cost 100 UAH each. If geotextile laying is required, this stage will cost approximately 25 UAH.

How to pour concrete for a driveway

A concrete driveway section is a reliable way to create a solid foundation. During the process, special attention should be paid to the details and sequence of all stages, as well as the correct selection of the base material. Recommendations for constructing a concrete driveway include the following:
- Planning and preparing the site. The driveway location is determined, concrete is selected, and the base material is delivered.
- Preparing the foundation. At this stage, a 10-15 cm layer of soil must be removed, sand and crushed stone must be placed on the bottom of the trench, and the material must then be compacted using a vibrating plate or other tools. Formwork is also installed at this stage.
- Reinforcing the driveway. Reinforcing mesh with 10x10 or 15x15 cm mesh is used. To improve its effectiveness during concrete pouring, it is raised 2-3 cm above the base using special supports.
- Concrete work. Concrete is prepared using M300 cement and poured evenly from one selected corner of the area. To eliminate air bubbles, the mixture is immediately compacted with a vibrator.
- Apply the finishing layer. Level the surface using a long rake or straightedge. After 2-3 hours, smooth the surface with a float or smoothing tool.
- Concrete pavement maintenance is the final step, which involves creating conditions for proper drying. The surface is covered with a film. Next, regularly moisten the concrete to ensure uniform hardening.
After hardening, the concrete can be treated with special impregnations, paints, or decorative coatings.
What are the benefits of pouring a concrete driveway and driveway?

The main advantage of building concrete paths is the optimal price-quality ratio. This format is considered the most popular for creating paths, driveways, and concrete areas. Other advantages include the following:
- increased strength and durability of the material;
- simple process for creating a concrete structure;
- affordable price of concrete paving;
- ability to easily withstand environmental impacts, including temperature fluctuations;
- stable resistance to mechanical stress;
- the ability to perform installation work independently without the need for specialists;
- extensive opportunities for creating original decor.
